There’s Still Good People Out There

The past seven days have been filled with meetings, projects, traveling, speaking engagements—you name it. On Saturday, I had the honor of speaking at the inaugural MBA’s mPowering You Summit and then covering the MBA Annual Convention & Expo.

After days of incredible development of longstanding relationships and the sharing of great information, I boarded my now redeye flight after a two hour delay back to California on Monday night. Not only was I exhausted from an intense month, I had come down with bronchial asthma from all my allergic reactions on the plane and environmental issues in Denver. After arriving home from LAX full of excitement, I realized my husband hadn’t loaded my carry-on luggage into the car. Jay had surprised me by bringing our newest puppy Callista to the airport and with all the commotion, he thought I had already placed my carry-on luggage inside the car as it wasn’t next to my luggage on the curb. I then immediately got in the car and drove back to LAX as he tried to track someone down to look for my carry-on. Naturally, when I arrived at the LAX American Airlines pickup curb it was gone.

Airport staff reviewed security footage while I waited until 3 am in the morning, but they didn’t find anything helpful. I eventually had to throw in the towel and drive back home. I had my most important business tools in my suitcase, but what hurt the most to lose were my documents and projects on my laptop, my photos and the countless business cards of wonderful people I’d met throughout the weekend.

After getting home, I changed all my passwords and sent an email to my staff. I finally went to bed thinking about the game plan I needed to get back into production.

Tuesday morning, I received a call from my office that a man had seen my carry-on luggage on the curb with no one there after dropping off his clients so he took it home.

I am ecstatic to be reunited with everything I thought was gone! Those of you who know me, know I am an intense packer. Eric Stolp, Owner of A1 Tours in Los Angeles, was my hero today! He called as soon as we opened to let me know he was an honest man who called the number on my business card. Eric went above and beyond to help a perfect stranger – thank you for caring!! #PositiveNAWRB
