Wide-ranging in scope, yet narrow in its focus on issues that derail women from advancing in life, the conversations held on stage focused on topics people are sometimes uncomfortable talking about including sexual exploitation and poverty.

For the first time at a NAWRB Conference, mPower (Mortgage Banker’s Association Promoting Opportunities for Women to Extend their Reach) presented a panel, kicking off our Year of Women with style and substance.

U.S. Small Business Administration Celebrates 65th Anniversary

Monday, July 30th, marked 65 years that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has been in service for millions of entrepreneurs and small businesses. Founded on July 30, 1953, the SBA has provided small businesses “with access to funding, mentoring, counseling, and when disaster strikes, support to recover and get back to business,” their press release states.

Chicago Schoolteacher Raises Funds for Her Students Midair

One of the reasons we selected Chicago for our 2018 Conference: Year of Women is despite pervasive issues of crime and poverty, many Chicago citizens care about and work to make a difference in their community. They push their city to do better by its less fortunate residents as it grows as a center of commerce, technology, and the arts.

This love many Chicagoans have for their city was manifested midair on a recent Southwest flight when a fellow passenger asked Chicago school teacher Kimber Bermudez about what she does for a living.
