With National Small Business Week just five days away, what better time for NAWRB to attend decisive Washington, D.C. meetings and events? As a leading voice for women and women-owned and small businesses in the housing ecosystem, we recognize the importance of being on the edge of new developments and maintaining our pivotal relationships in the nation’s capital.

On April 26, NAWRB will attend the Financial Services Committee’s “A Legislative Proposal to Create Hope and Opportunity for Investors, Consumers, and Entrepreneurs” hearing on the Financial CHOICE Act of 2017.

A candidate to replace the Dodd-Frank, the act aims to empower Americans by ending bailouts funded by taxpayers,  increasing Wall Street’s accountability, ensuring banks are well-capitalized and reducing the over-regulation of community banks and credit unions.

As a champion advocate participating on behalf of women-owned and small businesses, this hearing is momentous—not to mention NAWRB was asked for our valuable input.

The hearing will be webcast live on the Financial Services Committee website.

NAWRB will also be present at the 2017 Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) “Economic Inclusion Summit,” exploring strategies for “increasing access for underserved consumers to the mainstream financial system.”

From establishing safe and sustainable banking relationships to leveraging partnerships for banking access, the topics to be discussed will highlight actionable solutions to increase the economic inclusion of disadvantaged consumers. Active consumers can mean a stimulated, healthy economy; with the FDIC’s leadership in the federal contracting space, this summit is also a must-attend for us.

The summit will be webcast live on the FDIC homepage.

With heels on the ground at these events, and additional non-publicized meetings and appointments, our Washington, D.C. Government Relations Committee is a leader helping map the way to a better future.
