Job-listing site Glassdoor just released their list of the Highest-Paying Jobs and Highest-Paying Companies in 2019. It might not come as a shock that the highest-paying jobs are in healthcare: Physician, Pharmacy Manager and Dentist, which require many years of schooling, were ranked as the top highest-paying career choices. The median base salary for a Physician is $193,415, $144,768 for a Pharmacy Manager and $142,478 for a Dentist.

Key findings of the report show that jobs in the technology and healthcare sectors dominate the list of highest-paying jobs in 2019 as many roles come with six-figure median base salaries. A Physician, the highest-paying job, comes with a median base salary that is over three-and-a-half times higher than the median U.S. base salary, which is currently at $53,950.
Another important discovery is that many of these high paying jobs, especially those in the healthcare industry, require advanced degrees or many years of experience, as in technology and finance positions. Because individuals with this amount of education or experience are currently in short supply, employers are willing to pay an exorbitant amount to attract professionals and retain talent.

Technology companies, especially social media giants, comprise many of the highest-paying companies list. Palo Alto Networks claims the top spot with a median base salary of $170, 929. However, there are a considerable amount of non-tech companies in this list, such as gaming company Playstation and consulting firm McKinsey & Company, which shows that you do not always have to be in STEM or healthcare to have a high-paying job.
