Haunted Real Estate

It’s almost Halloween and NAWRB hopes you’ve been enjoying your October with scary movies, candy and pumpkin spice everything. In the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve we thought we’d start this spooky week by compiling a list of haunted real estate from around the country. You might live closer to a haunted house than you think.

  1. The Chelsea Hotel- New York City, NY
Built in 1884, this hotel has housed famous writers, artists and musicians throughout its lifetime. Even though these tenants have long since passed, reports claim that their apparitions still roam the halls.
  2. The White House- Washington, D.C.
Reports of paranormal activity at the White House span decades. Former presidents have reported seeing the ghosts of Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman and Andrew Jackson.
  3. The Whaley House- San Diego, CA
This house was officially recognized as a haunted house by the U.S. Department of Commerce in the 1960s. Scary activity includes phantom footsteps and the apparitions of the home’s former owners.
  4. Sprague Mansion- Cranston, RI
Home to the wealthy Sprague family, this house is open for scary tours. It is said that the home’s former inhabitants still reside here, including a man dressed in black who stands on the stairs.
  5. The Watcher House-Westfield, NJ
Built in 1905, this house is said to come with a watcher, a person who constantly stalks the home and sends disturbing letters to its occupants. The last family who purchased the home (in 2014) began receiving letters just after closing and never moved in.

Happy Halloween week from NAWRB headquarters! We hope our list didn’t scare you too much.
