In 2019, 85 percent of the over 2000 companies included in the list of the World’s Most Attractive Employers place hiring for diversity as a top priority. What does diversity mean to todays’ college students? According to the report, about 93 percent of the future talent pool associates D&I in the workplaces with cultural diversity more so than age, ethnicity or gender.
Cultural diversity focuses on personality traits, socioeconomic backgrounds, nationality, work experience and education, rather than just perceivable traits such as gender, age and ethnicity. This finding indicates that setting targets and meeting quotas will not be enough to create the kind of environment that employees seek and feel as if they can thrive in.
