July 18, 2017 – The National Association of Women in Real Estate Businesses (NAWRB) is proud to announce our signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC). The MOU signing took place during the Power Lunch: Women’s Trade Associations, Collaboration for the Future at the 2017 4th Annual NAWRB Nexus Conference in Costa Mesa,CA.
Both organizations will work together to increase homeownership for both women and minorities. There are over 18 million female homeowners in the United States, with single female householders comprising 13 percent of total family households, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The current homeownership rate for Hispanics is 45.2 percent. Owning a home, a place to call one’s own, is part of the American dream, and a necessary component to ensuring economic growth.
“We are excited to collaborate with the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce to create more awareness and opportunities for women and minority homeownership,” stated Desiree Patno, President & CEO of NAWRB. “Women and the Hispanic community are important contributors to our economy as small business owners and entrepreneurs. By making sure both groups have a foundation to develop their wealth, we are securing their economic growth for generations to come.”
“We’re going to work together for one cause,” said Frank Montes, Chairman of the Board of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, “and that cause is to bring our community up. Homeownership is key to any small business owner. We need to make sure that they feel secure and have a piece of the American dream. That American dream here in California has doubled and tripled in cost, so we need more affordable housing.”
