From the desk of Shideh Balali,
My name is Shideh Balali and I am responsible for Strategic Development at NAWRB.
I started with NAWRB in October 2015 as the Member Relations Coordinator. The relationships I have gained and the enterprising women I have spoken with have been phenomenal. An organization like NAWRB unites women from different backgrounds in the housing continuum that share the same drive, ambition and perseverance. It is rare to find an organization that is prompted by their members’ welfare rather than monetary gain.
When I started here I had recently taken the California State Bar, by far the most difficult bar of the U.S., and was awaiting results. Once I found out I passed, I was offered a great position at a mid-sized firm and couldn’t have been happier. I am delighted to announce I am passionate about our mission and will be staying with NAWRB, transitioning from member relations to strategic development. We are creating great growth, and this is only the tip of the ideology; we will continue working for the women’s culture and community as a whole. Each person I have met and shared NAWRB’s vision with has been thrilled and motivated to become a part of our organization.
Being an attorney here at NAWRB has shifted my perspective and made me want to give back. I am more than happy to help with consultations to any Elite Member.
Recent NAWRB Developments
In an effort to promote accountability in the diversity and inclusion movement, NAWRB is proud to introduce our Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (NDILC) championing all financial institutions, servicing companies, secondary mortgage markets and associated real estate services to increase their diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts and growth. As a collaborative community, women must improve their respective industries and ultimately secure sustainable growth.
NDILC will meet on a bi-monthly basis and will respond to government Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Comments (RFC), publish a yearly paper on D&I best practices and industry developments and provide important council updates in NAWRB Magazine.
NAWRB is celebrating seven years of advocating on behalf of women in the housing industry. Recognized as a women’s leader of industry developments, we are proud to announce our Women’s Homeownership Initiative dedicated to helping women achieve the dream of owning a home. As women make advancements in the professional arena, it is important to secure their progress and success with tangible assets. Owning a home is a cornerstone of the American dream, and NAWRB is here to help women increase women’s economic footprint by making homeownership a reality.
The expansion of NAWRB is pivotal for our mission and work; with the growth of our strategic partnerships, affiliations, membership we will continue to lead the way.
