August 26, 2017 is National Dog Day in the U.S., a day set aside to celebrate pups around the country and raise awareness of the number of dogs that need to be rescued every year. Celebrated annually, the observance was founded in 2004 by Colleen Paige, the founder of several philanthropic days shining a light on animals’ struggles and the importance of adoption.
The National Dog Day website states, “Our mission is to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort.”
Animal rescue and dogs are very important to the NAWRB Team. “Dogs are my heaven,” says Desirée Patno, NAWRB CEO & President. “The puppies bring back the memories of having a newborn in the home. Sheer bliss!”
“I don’t actually call her my dog, she’s my kid,” states Kendall Roderick, NAWRB Sr. Graphic Designer. “Some people have a hard time understanding that there is no hardship that could separate us. Four, three or two legs, she will always be with us, through thick and thin.”
