NAWRB would like to wish a happy Father’s Day to all the dads this Sunday, June 18, 2017. The idea for Father’s Day started in 1909 with Sonora Dodd, who wanted to honor her father, a widowed Civil War veteran. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson issued a presidential proclamation designating the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day.
In recognition of this Sunday’s holiday, the U.S. Census Bureau has released a Father’s Day Facts for Features, providing a snapshot of American dads.
