Women’s Homeownership
The 3rd Annual NAWRB Women’s Diversity and Inclusion Conference brings you the national platform for Women’s Homeownership. According to 2014 Census Bureau data, there are 18,057,000 female homeowners in the United States. Ten million live alone, 6.7 million live with relatives without a husband present and 1.3 million live in two-or-more person households.
We will address the unique challenges and aspects of women’s homeownership, and how you can be part of this emerging market!
Women-Owned Contracting Opportunities
A variety of agencies with enormous responsibilities and projects in motion, from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to the Small Business Administration (SBA), beckon the assistance of diverse independent contractors from several industries.
These entities possess contracts and set-asides for women-owned small business and small businesses within several designations. With the ever-growing diversity and inclusion (D&I) movement, a rising number of agencies are dedicating themselves to increasing the utilization of small businesses in the contracting arena.
As the Small Business Administration (SBA) reveals in the Scorecard Summary for fiscal year 2015, HUD awarded over $360 million in contracts to women-owned small businesses (WOSB). This is just one agency dedicated to working with WOSB in the contracting arena.
These contracts, potentially worth millions of dollars, could be pivotal for your business. If you prepare yourself, you could be the next recipient of a million-dollar contract.

What is the Future of U.S. Housing?
It is no secret that foreign buying activity in American real estate has been vigorous in recent years, with billions of foreign dollars rushing into the market. The diversification and protection of wealth is a major factor in these purchases, driven by calculated investment decisions and often coerced by unpredictable economies overseas. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reports that between April 2015 and March 2016, foreign buyers spent $102.6 billion on residential properties in the U.S. Despite this gargantuan figure, it is amazingly 1.3 percent lower in dollar volume from the previous year. The Value of Women’s Organizations
Why join a women’s organization? One word: success. Businesswomen are creating higher-level success stories and it is in no small part a result of collective camaraderie and new tools like the NAWRB Women’s Global Database. Women are starting over 1,100 businesses a day and women-owned businesses grew by 27.5 percent from 2007 to 2012. This professional attainment has gained so much momentum that last year the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that it met its annual lending authority threshold of $18.75 billion. The SBA also awarded 5.05 percent of all federal small business contracts totaling $17.8 billion to women-owned small businesses, surpassing their 5 percent goal. Click Here to Finish Reading

Women’s Retirement: An Uphill Battle
Hindsight is 20/20, meaning that it is easier to examine-and determine the correct course of action in-a situation or event after it has taken place. This phrase emphasizes the importance of having foresight, to ensure that rather than lament the mistakes of the past; we make the correct decisions today to create a better tomorrow.

Make a change for the better tomorrow!
“Unlike their minority counterparts, women do not have geographical roots. Join us in strengthening the women’s culture and growing the largest global resource center for women in housing.” – Desirée Patno
The National Association of Women in Real Estate Businesses (NAWRB) is proud to announce that for the second consecutive year, we have been awarded the prestigious APEX Award for Publication Excellence in recognition of our international magazine.
The APEX Awards are “an annual competition for publishers, editors, writers and designers who create print, Web, electronic and social media.” The category NAWRB entered is Magazines, Journals & Tabloids – Print – +32 pages and 2016 winners were chosen on the basis of excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and success in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.
Since the reception of our 2015 APEX Award, NAWRB has had a busy year brimming with victories, working through the struggles and advocacy for women and women-owned businesses in the housing ecosystem.
With the groundbreaking attainment of sole source authority by the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program, 2015 saw the release of our Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (NDILC), through which we are working to increase the number of C-suite women across America and helping eliminate gender-based barriers within the workplace.
In early 2016, NAWRB expanded our reach into the domestic space with our Women’s Homeownership Initiative (WHI), committed to increasing women’s homeownership and decreasing women’s poverty levels across the country.
Shortly after the federal government’s historic achievement in women-owned small business contracting in March 2016, NAWRB introduced our Women’s Global Resource Center (NWGRC), providing a women’s depository for vendors and clients to grow their diverse spend and increase women’s employment at all levels.
In the developing housing ecosystem, NAWRB remains a leading advocate for women. Our founder and CEO, Desirée Patno, along with NAWRB’s Government Relations Committee, was in attendance at last week’s historic White House United State of Women’s Summit. Through our advocacy and media platform, we will continue providing a voice and fighting to create change for women.

Arming the Real Estate Industry with Women’s Homeownership Certification
NAWRB Women’s Homeownership Real Estate Professional Events
The mission of the National Association of Women in Real Estate Businesses (NAWRB) Women’s Homeownership Initiative (WHI) is to increase women’s access to homeownership and sustainable homeownership rates across the nation. Homeownership will cement women’s personal and professional strides.
As we raise women’s awareness within our communities, NAWRB is hosting two women’s homeownership events in June. On the 9th our Real Estate Professional Certification Workshop will take place in Raleigh, NC and on the 24th, in Arlington, TX. Admission to both events is free. All real estate professionals are invited to attend and receive the NAWRB Women’s Homeownership Certificate.
The value of the NAWRB certificate is the expertise and knowledge in women’s homeownership it demonstrates. By understanding the importance and challenges in women’s homeownership, you can increase the success rate of women’s homeownership, best serve women homebuyers, and capitalize on the buying power of successful women.
A diverse panel will equip attendees with the information needed to successfully traverse the women homebuyer market. “Purchasing Property: Value Add of Lender Products, Brokerages, Title Settlement Services” provides a detailed look into buyer resources when buying a home, from finding the right loan to the benefits of utilizing a title company. “Access to Business Capital” will demonstrate the ways women can pitch their homes to obtain business loans. By utilizing the upkeep of a home as a business model, women can show accountability in running a successful business, pushing new ideas to leverage their home to secure capital.
With a pervasive 27 percent gender wage gap and imbalanced professional sectors, women endure significant poverty levels that are difficult to surpass. Homeownership is an achievement that carries with it the potential to safeguard one’s wealth and progress.
Census Bureau data reveals there are currently 18,057,000 female homeowners in the United States and according to the National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) Recent Home Buyer Profiles Nov, 2015, 15 percent of recent buyers were single females compared to 9 percent single men.
Women’s homeownership is an emerging market, register today to learn how you can help create a better tomorrow for today’s women.
