March is Women’s History Month and we have a lot to celebrate for females in the U.S. Taking pride in how far women have come throughout history and spreading awareness of our gender’s accomplishments is an important way to celebrate women. Although we do have a ways to go, it’s important to honor how far we’ve come and the women who brought us here. Check out the following enjoyable ways to celebrate Women’s History Month.
1. Get Together With Your Girls And Read Up On Women Throughout History
Think of this as a book club setting where you and your girlfriends read passages, then discuss your feelings on the matter at hand. You and your girlfriends can talk about what it must have been like for women centuries ago and how you would have handled it. You can look to the future and perhaps brainstorm ideas of how women can move even further throughout history.
2. Spend Each Day Reflecting On One Woman Who Influenced History
Set aside time each day this month to focus on a different woman who made a lasting impression on America’s history. There have been tremendous amount of amazing women who made progress for us throughout history. For example, Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a social activist in the 1800s who was instrumental in the creation of the early women’s suffrage movements in the U.S. Helen Keller was another extraordinary woman who was blind and deaf yet worked to better the lives of other people who had the same disabilities.
3. Educate Your Children And Grandchildren On The Struggles And Triumphs Of Women
Educating your children and grandchildren about the phenomenal strides women have made throughout history is a way to celebrate females everywhere and spread knowledge. Teach them about strong women and how much they have contributed throughout history.
4. Watch Movies Featuring A Strong Female Lead
If you love Netflix, you’re not alone. Thankfully, Netflix has a category specifically featuring movies featuring strong female leads. Make it a wine and cheese night by yourself or with girlfriends and relish in the thought that these women are changing history.
5. Register To Vote
Think about this: less than 100 years ago, women weren’t allowed to vote. Crazy, right? Well, why not register to vote if you haven’t already? If you’re already registered, brush up on the latest pieces of legislation and hot button issues affecting women right now. As a woman, celebrate the fact that you have a voice in who governs our country and which laws are passed.
