Half of Lower-Income Americans Report Coronavirus-Related Household Job or Wage Loss
Many Americans have experienced a household job or wage loss due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the last month and a half as over 26 million people have filed for unemployment. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, lower-income adults are experiencing a greater economic impact than adults with higher income levels, a group that already felt financial pressure before the pandemic claimed the United States. While 43 percent of adults report that they or someone in their household has lost a job or taken a pay cut due to COVID-19, this percentage increases to 52 percent among lower-income adults.
Women in Real Estate: Leading the Charge Toward Equal Access and a Level Playing Field
Desirée Patno has led women toward leadership and success throughout her three-decade career. As president and CEO of Desirée Patno, Inc. and founder of Women in the Housing & Real Estate Ecosystem (NAWRB), Patno leads the charge toward equal access for women and a level playing field for all.
“We have to look at this not as a feminist movement, or something in which there are too many movements because it becomes a ‘kitchen sink’ kind of thing, but more of an equal access thing,” says Patno. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a woman, if you’re a person of color, if you’re a Caucasian man, as long as we all have access to equality so that the best person gets the best job. This way, we will be able to achieve a better equilibrium.”
Just Released: “Quality of Life” Special Edition of NAWRB Magazine, Vol. 9, Issue 1
In an instant, the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed the way we live, work, interact with people and do business. Our interactions with others happen through video calls and wearing a face mask while going to the store is becoming the new norm.
As we tackle new challenges everyday due to an ongoing global health pandemic and several state-ordered social distancing and stay-at-home orders, Women in the Housing & Real Estate Ecosystem (NAWRB) presents a special edition of NAWRB Magazine, Volume 9, Issue 1, “Quality of Life,” which provides a review of how this pandemic has affected different industries that each impact the Quality of Life and anything that touches land: the real estate ecosystem.
